Fallen Angel

Posted in Uncategorized on December 13, 2008 by Brian

This was a pretty cool project with several steps.  I understood the music and drew what I heard.  This is what goes on inside my head when I hear this music.  I am a straight forward thinker and I drew what I believed to be the song Fallen Angel.  I don’t hear artistic flowers or paintings, I don’t hear ink blots or baloons.  I hear a rhythmic melody with a systematic isolation of sounds and If you listen to this music you may hear something different but then paint it… it is a great exercise

Diebenkorn Credit card pics

I didn’t realy understand the function of this but it did give me a better understanding of why we were doing the diebenkorn sketches.  doing simple drawings gave me a better idea of doing a picture with lack of detail and just using light and darkness to convey the picture.  dibenkorn-credit-card

Library book gift

Posted in Uncategorized on December 13, 2008 by Brian

This was  a fun project that Lee cooked up.  It is fun to find an unexpected gift in an unexpected time.  We drew five books from the library and created a piece of art to go into them.  The piece of art was to be pertinant to the book and memorable.  I think I made a pretty good go of it…bookmark

Diebenkorn Drawing

Posted in Uncategorized on December 13, 2008 by Brian

Lucy and I were given a picture of a Dibenkorn piece of work.  We used charcoal to attempt to reproduce the piece.   I must say that this was the most uncomfortable piece that we did this semester.  I didn’t like it.  I didn’t like the piece I did.  I wasn’t there to help Lucy finish it and she did a great job.  I must say better than I would have.  I appreciate the work of Diebenkorn but I must say I don’t ever wish to do this again.divenkorn1

we were given one of Lee’s assignments at the Elliot center.  Go home and print out 10 items from google  on a topic of our choice.  Once again we didn’t know why we did it but as all of Lee’s projects it eventualy came full circle and we understood.  I think I should have picked simpler items but they did work.

Candy candy candy candy candy candy candy candy candy candy candy candy candy candy candy….           I love this project.  Getting to work with any candy we want we could take pictures showing candy in a space.   I knew that I was going to get Jolly Ranchers as soon as it came out of his mouth.  I love the way they refract the light and shine themselves.  They were a great subject.
